چکیده

We present an improved version of the spline curve defined by H.-J. Wenz (1996) for the interpolation of 2D curve data. This trigonometrically blended spline is curvature continuous, interpolates 3D curve data, and is generated by convex combinations of circular arcs and straight line segments. As an application we show a method for rounding off the vertices of spatial polygonal lines and generating swept surfaces.  2000 Elsevier Science B.V. All rights reserved.

Generating the Envelope of a Swept Trivariate Solid

We present a method for calculating the envelope of the swept surface of a solid along a path in three-dimensional space. The generator of the swept surface is a trivariate tensorproduct Bèzier solid and the path is a non-uniform rational B-spline curve. The boundary surface of the solid is the combination of parametric surfaces and an implicit surface where the determinant of the Jacobian of t...

Approximate swept volumes of NURBS surfaces or solids

This paper presents a method of determining the approximate swept volume of Non-Uniform Rational B-Spline (NURBS) surfaces or solids. The method consists of (1) slicing the NURBS surfaces or solids by finding the intersection of plane/surface; (2) forming the sliced curves; (3) setting up the local moving coordinate system; (4) determining the characteristic (also called singular) points or cur...

Closed-form Swept Volume of Implicit Surfaces

Recent developments in formulations for generating swept volumes have made a significant impact on the efficiency of employing such algorithms and on the extent to which formulations can be used in representing complex shapes. In this paper, we outline a method for employing the representation of implicit surfaces using the Jacobian rank deficiency condition presented earlier for the sweep of p...

Curves in Computer Graphics

The only primitive geometric objects that computer graphics hardware typically can draw are points, lines and polygons. Usually there are special mechanisms to draw images, text characters, et cetera, but these are not commonly considered “geometric” since they are not usually transformed by geometric operations like rotation and perspective projection. Obviously it is important that graphics p...
